Not long ago, we got word that Anthony Mackie had joined the cast of the upcoming sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger entitled Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Now, the studio is looking to fill the role of the female lead.
According to the New York Post, there are a few choices that the studio has in mind, including Oscar-nominated actress Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air), Felicity Jones (Like Crazy), and Imogen Poots, who is soon to be seen in Terrence Malick’s Knight of Cups.
Personally, my favorite of the choices listed above is Kendrick. When she gets good material (Up in the Air, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), she does quite well, and even when she’s stuck with something as bad as The Twilight Saga, she does her best with what she has.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be directed by brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, who are mostly known for their work in TV, and will see Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan returning as Captain America and Bucky Barnes, respectively.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters on April 4, 2014.
What do you think of the studio’s choices? Let us know in the comments!
