Finally! After months and months of speculation and rumor, we finally have some official casting news for Star Wars: Episode VII. According to Variety, Girls star Adam Driver is in talks for a villainous role in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming film. No details yet on who exactly he would play but the character is said to “be in the vein of Darth Vader.”

If Driver should sign on, he’ll be the first official cast member, as currently, no one else is confirmed. Of course, there are hundreds of names that are said to be attached to the project, but nothing official has come our way until today.

After really breaking out on Lena Dunham’s hit HBO series, Driver has gone on to prove that he’s one of Hollywood’s most impressive young actors. He’s been linked to a number of high-profile films in recent months and now, it looks like he’s finally settled on one. Again though, it’s important to note that actor is still in talks for the role and hasn’t signed just yet. Scheduling conflicts with Girls could prevent him from taking the job but I’d imagine he’ll find a way to make this work.

As always, we’ll let you know when we hear more.
