Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston ascend the Netflix throne claiming the streamer’s top two spots

Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler are sitting atop the Netflix charts as Nick and Audrey Spitz.

What do you get when you pair Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston with a murder mystery that just so happens to take place in a beautiful location? Well, you get the top two movies on Netflix right now, and with good reason. Murder Mystery 2 and its predecessor, Murder Mystery, are sitting atop the most-watched Netflix chart, and fans can’t get enough of the storyline and their dynamic characters.

Playing Nick and Audrey Spitz, Sandler and Aniston have a special type of chemistry that can only come from a relationship spanning three decades, three films together, and many memories in between. The friendship they share off-screen lends to a charismatic and easy-to-root-for pairing on screen, and fans can’t get enough of Nick and Audrey. Netflix Top 10 shares that Murder Mystery 2 was watched for 62.24 million hours this week (rather, in the last five days that it’s been available to fans), while Murder Mystery was streamed for 24.69 hours.

Fans were first introduced to Nick and Audrey in 2019, and it was evident that they were a couple well outside the parameters of the honeymoon period. Ironically, the idea of a honeymoon itself is the one thing that could bridge the gap that exists between them, so in a moment of panic, Nick tells Audrey he planned her dream trip to Europe — but things aren’t what they seem.

As they experience the trip of a lifetime, someone’s life comes to an end, and it’s up to Nick and Audrey to solve the mystery. The thing is, Audrey is a hairstylist, and Nick is a cop who’s been lying to his wife about his job title — so they’re not exactly the pair you’d initially pick to solve a crime.

Audrey thinks her husband is a detective, but Nick has yet to pass the exam, and the couple soon realizes they’re in far over their heads. With a bit of love, luck, and a lot of belief in one another — Murder Mystery ends well enough, but there’s always another secret to be revealed, another murder to solve.

Murder Mystery 2 sees Nick and Audrey as they attend the wedding of their friend, Vikram “The Maharajah” Govindan, on a private island, but he soon goes missing, and you guessed it — it’s up to our favorite on-screen couple to solve his case before it’s too late. We’re not giving away any spoilers here, but the second installment of Nick and Audrey’s story is even more exciting than the first, and it’s apparent that they’ve learned a lot since their first murder mystery.

Nick and Audrey have their ducks in a row when we greet them before their travels to their tropical paradise, and while the next leg of their journey certainly has its ups and downs, one thing is for sure — if they’ve got each other, they’ve got it all.

You can watch both Murder Mystery and Murder Mystery 2 on Netflix now, and the statistics show you won’t want to miss a moment of their incredible adventures.
