After being rumored as the frontrunner for some time now, Alden Ehrenreich has been cast as the new Han Solo in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s upcoming Star Wars spinoff, reports Page Six. The actor beat out competition like Jack Reynor, Taron Egerton, Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort, among many many others, to snag the highly coveted role.
Though far from a household name at the moment, Alden Ehrenreich has certainly seen his career experience a quick rise over the last year or two. After really breaking out in 2013’s Beautiful Creatures, he then did memorable work in both Blue Jasmine and more recently, Hail, Caesar! Of course, the Han Solo spinoff will be his biggest role to date and given how iconic the character is, he definitely has his work cut out for him.
Story details for the spinoff aren’t known at this time, but we can tell you that Lawrence Kasdan has penned the script along with his son Jon, and apparently, both Chewbacca and Boba Fett are set to appear. Aside from that though, we really have no idea as to what we can expect from the film.
The Han Solo spinoff won’t hit theatres until May 25th, 2018, so we’ve still got a long ways to go until we find out more on this one. For now, though, hit the comments section and let us know if you’re on board with having Alden Ehrenreich in the lead role.
