Alec Baldwin must have some kind of fascination with Howard Hughes. He starred in Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator as Pan American World Airways founder Juan Trippe, and has now jumped on board Warren Beatty’s upcoming, as-yet-untitled Howard Hughes film as well.
While it would have been cool to see him reprise his role as Trippe, Baldwin will be playing a different character this time around. In this film, he’ll take the part of Hughes’ lawyer, Bob Maheu.
Beatty will be directing and starring as Hughes, along with a cast that includes Lily Collins, Alden Ehrenreich, Martin Sheen, Matthew Broderick and Annette Bening. Interestingly enough, the film actually won’t be a Hughes biopic. Instead, it tells the story of his assistant (played by Ehrenreich) and his assistant’s love interest (Collins), who’s an actress.
Though this has been a passion project of Beatty’s for twenty years now, it only really got off the ground back in February, so we have no word yet on when we can expect to see it. Of course, we’ll keep you posted on any further news as it develops.
For now though, tell us, are you interested in seeing another Howard Hughes film?
