Though not as informative as the first full-length trailer which arrived back in December, this new look at the next instalment in the iconic franchise is still worth a watch. Teasing “the last supper,” we get to meet most of the main characters here, who all look to be having a good time as they enjoy a meal together and indulge in a bit of partying before they head into cryosleep.

While the general tone is pretty cheerful, the scares surely aren’t too far off, and while it’s disappointing that Fox didn’t give us a taste of any of the darker or more terrifying elements of Scott’s upcoming effort, we’ll take what we can get. Admittedly, it’s not the most exciting of clips (granted, it is a prologue), but it’s still nice to get to see the cast in action and has us excited for what comes next. When we’ll get another full trailer is unknown at this point, but it does seem like the marketing campaign is starting to ramp up now, so it shouldn’t be too much longer.

Covenant stars up and coming actress Katherine Waterston as the Ripley-esque Daniels, Danny McBride, Billy Crudup, Demian Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, two Michael Fassbenders and James Franco in the role of Branson. He’s said to be both the captain of Covenant and husband to Waterston’s Daniels, though from what we’ve heard, the actor holds only a minor role. He does show up in this clip, however, so perhaps it’s not so minor after all?

Alien: Covenant will crawl into theatres on May 19th. It’s one of two Ridley Scott classics set to arrive this year, what with the Denis Villeneuve-directed Blade Runner 2049 penciled in for October 6th.
