The Alien prequel has been delayed until 2013 due to whatever problems have arrived this time. Before it was Ridley Scott fighting with FOX over the budget, then word was floating around about the script, or whatever. It’s interesting news seeing as recently, visual FX designer Henry South in a now deleted tweet said, “Started work on alien prequel today!! Absolutely stunning. Worth waiting till late 2011 for peeps!”
In addition to this, Scott told World Screen magazine last month that, “It’s written and budgeted and, frankly, we’ve already booked film stages in England, so I think [it will happen soon].”
The current list of candidates for the lead role include, Olivia Wilde, Noomi Rapace, (oh god yes) Carey Mulligan, Abbie Cornish and Natalie Portman. Now with the rumors of the delay, any of these actresses could move onto other projects, putting them out of the race for the lead role.
I was never a big Alien fan, I enjoyed the movies but I wasn’t that into it, Predator was more my thing. That being said, this news still sucks. However, let’s be honest here, how many out there are really clamoring for a new Alien movie, prequel or not?
