Now this is definitely the best trailer that I’ve seen in a while. If you can’t get enough of Rian Johnson‘s Looper, and even if you’re excited for the movie but want to avoid spoilers, this awesome animated trailer is for you.
If you’re still unfamiliar with the film, here’s the official synopsis:
In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.
The trailer features the same footage that we’ve seen in previous trailers, but here’s the cool part: each frame (over 700 in total) was hand painted by Zach Johnson. It’s also set to some stunning music from the official soundtrack. So basically, amazing artwork set to great music as promotional material for an upcoming movie that has the potential to be one of the best of the year? Just…wow. Is it possible to be this excited for a movie to come out?
Looper hits theatres this Friday, September 28th.
