The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Might Also Feature Another Marvel Hero

One of the rumours surrounding The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is that it will start the process of building towards introducing crack Marvel supervillain team the Sinister Six, to appear later on in the series. How best to lay those foundations? To start introducing other heroes, of course.

One of the rumours surrounding The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is that it will start the process of building towards introducing crack Marvel supervillain team the Sinister Six, to appear later on in the series. How best to lay those foundations? To start introducing other heroes, of course.

It sort of worked with The Avengers, which ended up making a little bit of money in the end. There’s also the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron and X-Men: Days of Future Past, so teams of superheroes are officially cool. Even Superman will be teaming up with Batman. So where does this leave poor old Spider-Man?

Den of Geek interviewed Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, uber-producer duo currently working on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and just straight up asked if we’ll be seeing cameos from any other Marvel heroes:

Avi Arad: Uh… I’d rather not answer that at this point. This is what the word ‘spoiler’ means. We want to always leave the audience with a couple of surprises. All of a sudden, you feel like, yeah, there’s a continuity. So if we say today how we go about it, we’d take away from the surprise of the movie.

So that’s an awfully big “maybe”. He’s not saying we will, but he isn’t saying we won’t. He’s not saying anything, in fact. So what does this tell us? Well, it tells us that the producers of the movie don’t want to spoil the surprise for us, and that we should just watch the damn movie for ourselves if we want to know.

On the spoiler note:

Shooting in New York, how hard has it been to stop things getting out with the paparazzi and everything?

Matt Tolmach: You’ve seen everything that’s got out. They’re here again today.

Avi Arad: We’ve been fortunate. There’s a lot we’ve managed to protect – amazingly so.

Interesting. They’ve managed to “protect” a lot. Hmmmmm.

What could they be protecting? Well, it’s not known if Sony have done a deal with Fox to get the rights to use any of the Marvel characters from The Avengers film universe. What is known is that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is released May 2014, and all will soon be revealed.
