The Uncut Version of American Psycho is being released in a new 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, giving dark-humored viewers the chance to see the axe-wielding Patrick Bateman slaughter victims, evade the law and riff gleefully on his favorite pop music in a superior resolution.

The home release also boasts a few nifty extras that break down as follows:

  • NEW Audio Commentary with writer/director Mary Harron
  • Previously Recorded Audio Commentary with writer/director Mary Harron
  • Audio Commentary with writer Guinevere Turner
  • Deleted Scenes with optional director Audio Commentary
  • “The ‘80s: Downtown” Featurette
  • “American Psycho: From Book to Screen” Featurette

This pitch-black 2000 satire of ‘80s materialism stars Christian Bale as the titular wacko amidst a star-studded cast that also includes Reese Witherspoon, Jared Leto, Willem Dafoe, Chloë Sevigny and Justin Theroux. For more, you can check out the film’s official synopsis below:

“Patrick Bateman, a young, well-to-do man working on Wall Street at his father’s company, kills for no reason at all. As his life progresses, his hatred for the world becomes more and more intense. Based on the book by Bret Easton Ellis. Screenplay by Mary Harron and Guinevere Turner. Directed by Mary Harron.”

American Psycho

Though somewhat divisive with critics, the film was praised by its supporters for its macabre social commentary and Bale’s unhinged performance. The movie even managed to spawn a direct-to-video sequel, though American Psycho 2 was panned back in 2002 and has drawn only slightly more interest in retrospect due to featuring an early starring turn from Mila Kunis. Since then, there’s been some talk of an American Psycho TV series, but with little sign of any progress for the project in recent years.

Thankfully, we’ll always have the engrossingly sick original movie, and you can look forward to the 4K Blu-ray of American Psycho: Uncut Version releasing on September 25th via Lionsgate Films.
