Fox has signed Andy Serkis to return as Caesar in the sequel to this year’s box office hit, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. It is unclear if James Franco and/or Freida Pinto will sign up for the sequel, but either way, they could easily make the film with or without them.

The film’s director Rupert Wyatt and screenwriters Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver are contracted to return for the sequel as well but it’s unclear when we can expect the film to be released.

It’s not surprising that Fox are going ahead with the sequel, as well as campaigning for Serkis in regards to Awards season. It looks as though the studio will attempt to get Serkis nominated in the best supporting actor category, which would be a mind blowing achievement if he wins, considering his role was all mo-cop.

What do you think? Can Serkis take home an Oscar and are you happy with his involvement in the sequel?
