Because she’s a big star now and romantic comedies have to be a little bit quirky to get noticed amongst all the trash that gets made, Anna Kendrick is set to appear in the upcoming film adaptation of “timeline-swapping relationship musical” The Last Five Years.

That’s right: timeline-swapping, which apparently means that there will be two distinct perspectives at play in an all-singing movie that chronicles the life and death of a relationship. Kendrick’s timeline will run in reverse chronological order as she falls in love with an actor, while his – telling the same story – will go in the opposite direction. Maybe they’ll meet in the middle at that wonderful point where things are, you know, going perfectly. That would make sense, right?

The Last Five Years, written by Jason Robert Brown, was a huge hit on the stage, so it’s no surprise that Hollywood has decided to make it into a feature.

Kendrick, who was brilliant starring across from George Clooney in Up In The Air, recently showcased her singing chops in Pitch Perfect, which perfectly explains why she’s been cast in something like this.

What are your thoughts on Kendrick taking the lead in this? Have you even heard of this musical before? Let us know in the comments section below.
