Well, we did it folks. We Got This Covered is turning three years old today and we are continuing on, stronger than ever. More so than in other years, our growth over the last 365 days has been truly staggering. June 2012 saw 525,000 page views and now, here we are, one year later with a record breaking 5,200,000 page views for June 2013. We’ve grown roughly ten times and it truly has been incredible.
It’s definitely been a big year for us and we’re thrilled to be where we are. We Got This Covered has really come a long way, starting off as a humble WordPress-hosted blog three years ago and now turning out to be a fully fledged entertainment website, recognized by the industries’ biggest names and outlets.
When I started this site three years ago, as a WordPress-hosted blog, never did I imagine that one day I would be invited to interview Hollywood’s hottest celebs, people like Seth Rogen, Billy Crystal, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman etc. Never did I think I would gain access to the industry’s most prolific events, be it E3, PAX, TIFF, Cannes Film Festival etc. Never did I expect to meet so many talented individuals who have taught me so much. From the WGTC writing team, to our contacts in the industry to my colleagues at other websites, I have amassed a tremendous amount of knowledge and I am thankful for all of it.
I’d like to say thank you to each and every one of our writers for their continued hard work and dedication. The site wouldn’t be what it is today without our fantastic writing staff who continue to impress me on a daily basis.
Of course, none of this would be possible either without you, the readers. So to you, we extend the biggest thanks of all. It’s you who keep us doing this day in and day out and as long as you keep showing up, we’re more than happy to keep providing content. We had a big year this year, and the future only looks brighter. I could not be happier with where We Got This Covered is right now and I hope for the best as we move on to bigger and better things.
Thank you to everyone who has made this website possible, and we hope you keep coming back for more! Be sure to check out our anniversary contest, too. We have some great prizes to give out.
And now, a word from our editors…
Matt Donato: Seeing We Got This Covered grow since joining the team a little over a year ago can be described as nothing short of awe-inspiring. Coming in with nothing but a hope and a dream, I quickly started accomplishing goals I’d set for myself years down the road, at a pace I could never even fathom. See my reviews on Rotten Tomatoes? Check. Interview huge names like Liam Neeson, Eli Roth, Paul Giamatti, and many more? Check. Be part of a rapidly growing site, bringing passionate journalistic content? Double check. I owe We Got This Covered everything for bringing me to this point in my life, and I owe even more to the readers. You. The people who keep coming back, letting us grow and attempt even more amazing accomplishments. Thank you, truly, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for letting me follow my passion, achieve life long goals, and be part of something bigger than I could have ever imagined. Let’s keep this wild ride going, what do you say?
Justin Alderman: We Got This Covered has come a long way over the last three years, and I could not be more proud to have played some small role in its success in the year and a half that I have been here. Being able to work alongside all of the incredible writers at WGTC has been a dream come true, and I am honored to be associated with such a talented group of people. However, the real credit for all of WGTC’s success belongs not to us but to you, our readers. None of this is possible without your support, and I am truly grateful for each and every single page view that you have taken the time to give us. It has been my pleasure, and honor, to write gaming news/features/reviews for you. Thank you all for your continued support!
Jonathan R. Lack: I have been with We Got This Covered since May of 2011, and it has been an absolute pleasure to work with a group of people so enthusiastic about film, television, and gaming. My personal background is in writing about entertainment for newspapers and related publications, and while those were terrific experiences, it is a joy to write for a website whose sole purpose is to educate and engage its audience about the world of modern film and gaming media. That means our writers are more focused on these topics and knowledgable about them, and that our audience is equally interested and engaged in these issues as we are. It is a pleasure to share my work with this audience, and to get more and better feedback than I ever expected from them. We Got This Covered has come a very long way in the time I have written for this site, and I hope we may continue to expand in the future, particularly in communicating with our reader base, and forging an even stronger foundation of followers than we have now. I am amazed at what Matt Joseph and the crew have done with this site in just three years. In another three? Well, from what I have seen so far, the sky is the limit.
Chad Goodmurphy: My career with We Got This Covered began over two years ago. At that time, we were a small site with dreams of making it big. Thanks to you folks, we’ve been able to just do that, and what was once a fledgling site averaging approximately 260,000 hits per month is now a respected voice within the generalized entertainment world, and one that pulls in upwards of 5 million hits per month. The level we’re at now is more than I ever expected, but it’s what I’d hoped we’d get to. Now, we just need to keep delivering you folks the great content that you expect from the sites you frequent and support. If we continue to do so, this site will hopefully grow even more.
A sincere thank you is in order for all of WGTC’s fans and supporters, because this wouldn’t be possible without you all. You’ve made me a happy man by allowing me to write about my favourite hobby and interact within its industry. Not only that, but thinking about how much the gaming section has grown since my first day on the job fills me with incredible pride. It was merely an afterthought at that time, and is now a bustling and well received part of this site, thanks to reader support and the blood, sweat and tears of quite a few very talented, passionate and hardworking writers.
