Ant-Man And The Wasp’s Big Rescue Mission May Have Lasting Consequences

Via Screen Rant, Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed has warned that the sequel's deep dive into the Quantum Realm may have lasting consequences.

As much as we were relieved to see Scott Lang escape from the Quantum Realm three years ago, Ant-Man opened a door he was unable to close.

It’s a door which leads into the unknown – a reality where all concepts of time and space become irrelevant, to quote Hank Pym – so it’s small wonder why Peyton Reed has called for caution ahead of Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Given much of the sequel revolves around Ant-Man, the Wasp, and their quest to retrieve the long-lost Janet Van Dyne from the Quantum Realm, one can’t help but wonder whether the sequel’s big rescue mission will have any lasting consequences for the MCU. Some connective tissue to Avengers 4 is all but certain, but when Screen Rant caught up with Peyton Reed as part of a recent set visit, the filmmaker warned of the dangers lurking within that Quantum Realm.

The big mission is to find Janet. What that means, ultimately, for our characters on a personal level is one thing and what it means for the larger world is another thing. And all the other things are really stumbling blocks on the path. There is a big bad that has a very unique relationship to our characters.

For Scott and Hope, their biggest threat will come in the form of Ghost, a shape-shifting baddie capable of walking between realms without so much as batting an eyelid. She’ll be played by the so-hot-right-now Hannah John-Kamen, and it seems Ghost holds a much more prominent role than we’ve been led to believe.

Peyton Reed continued:

You know that the character, Ghost, is in the movie and that we’ve adapted the character from the comics in a way that we feel is really unique to our movie and and very much tied into this universe, so she becomes a really, really crucial part of the story in a way that I can’t really reveal yet. Thank you very much. [Laughs]

All will be revealed once Ant-Man and the Wasp hits U.S. theaters on July 6th. And yes, tickets are on sale as of today.
