When the time comes, Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s Blu-ray will delve much deeper into the Quantum Realm all the while adding more footage of Walton Goggins’ low-level crook, Sonny Burch.
That’s according to director Peyton Reed, who spoke to Collider (h/t Screen Rant) just prior to the sequel’s U.S. opening last weekend. A $75 million haul was enough to get the ball rolling for what’s the 20th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while analysts are beginning to doubt Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s staying power – both at home and abroad – the close proximity to both Infinity War and Avengers 4 means diehard Marvel fans will always be interested to see what transpires.
Speaking of those MCU blockbusters, Ant-Man and the Wasp shares some connective tissue with its closest brethren – the Quantum Realm. And the film’s inevitable Blu-ray release promises more footage of that strange and perplexing netherworld.
There’s stuff that you do that’s, you know, well this scene is good but it’s a repeated beat of this other thing and this thing is way better, so no one needs to see that version. But yeah there’s some good stuff in the Quantum Realm and definitely some stuff with Walton Goggins, there’s maybe a little more Quantum Realm stuff that you’ll see on the Blu-Ray.
It’s a reality in which all laws of physics become meaningless, so it’s fair to say that Scott Lang faces an uphill struggle if he’s to make it out alive. Perhaps Captain Marvel will be his saving grace?
Whatever the case, if Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s release timeline is any indication, the Ant-Man and the Wasp Blu-ray ought to be with us sometime in October – two or three weeks after its debut on digital.
