Hank Pym goes undercover in the latest round of set photos to emerge from the set of Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Dressed in an FBI jacket, replete with a pair of ice-cool aviators, Michael Douglas’ physicist and inventor was spotted on the streets of Atlanta by Just Jared, and though the gallery below isn’t terribly revealing, it does serve as a timely reminder that, yes, Hank Pym will be back, back, back in 2018.
As you’ll no doubt remember, the original Ant-Man movie ended with Hank Pym finally allowing his daughter, Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), to suit up as the Wasp, and assume the mantle once held by her wayward mother. It’s a touching finale to an otherwise hilarious Marvel movie, and by the looks of things, Peyton Reed’s sequel will also pack an emotional punch thanks to the casting of Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne.
To their credit, the Powers That Be have so far done a stand-up job of keeping Pfeiffer’s newcomer in the dark, but as production begins to enter the home stretch in Georgia, Just Jared has now relayed a new helping of set photos that shed light on Michael Douglas in costume as Hank Pym.
On July 6th, Ant-Man and the Wasp will join forces “to uncover secrets from their past,” and that quest presumably has something to do with the elusive Janet van Dyne, who slipped into the Quantum Realm all those years ago.
It’s far too soon for Marvel to unveil the first trailer for Peyton Reed’s follow-up and besides, why steal the thunder from Black Panther? Nevertheless, we’ll be keeping a very close eye on Ant-Man 2 as it begins to coalesce.
