Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford team up to spoil the new title for ‘Captain America 4’

And it's so much better than the old one.

Such a change had been rumored for a while, but now it’s official. Ever since Captain America 4 was first announced to be carrying the problematic subtitle of New World Order — which comes with unwanted baggage thanks to that phrase being used in various unsavory political contexts over the years — fans wanted it changed. Now their appeals have been answered, thanks to the second Sentinel of Liberty himself Anthony Mackie slipping a big announcement onto Instagram.

The Sam Wilson star unveiled our very first (well, officially speaking) look at himself and co-star Harrison Ford on set of Captain America 4, which a well-placed chair confirms has now been retitled to Captain America: Brave New World. Once you draw your eyes away from that shiny new name, the rest of the pic sees Mackie and Ford engaged in what looks to be an engrossing chat.

“When Harrison Ford tells you how kicking ass should look, you listen! LoL… Thanks for the on set wisdom and laughs my friend!” Mackie wrote in his caption. “Can’t wait to do it again… Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World in theaters May 3, 2024.”

Brave New World is such an infinitely better fit for the film that it’s surprising Marvel didn’t go with it from the start. Originating from William Shakespeare’s The Tempest and also used as the title of Aldous Huxley’s seminal dystopian novel, “Brave new world” is often employed to describe a society or regime change that seems utopian but is in fact the opposite. In this context, it will no doubt tie into Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Ford is taking over from the late William Hurt) ascending to the office of President of the United States.

Like the Star-Spangled Man says, Captain America: New World Order Brave New World is coming on May 3, 2024.
