News about Marvel’s upcoming feature film version of Ant-Man has been slow in coming, but Comic Book Movie has just received word that test footage of the movie that was shown at Comic-Con may be released online sometime soon.

Edgar Wright, the director of Ant-Man, shot the footage in June and showed it to a crowd at Comic-Con who received it with a positive reception. None of the principal actors have been cast, and the footage is just a precursor to what the style of the movie will be, but it is still exciting to know that we may soon get a glimpse of it.

Marvel executive Victoria Alonso acknowledges that the footage is incomplete, but still wants the fans to feel like the studio is paying attention to their desire to see it:

“We’re working on finishing it, and I think you might see it. Not sure where, but we always listen to the fans. And if the fans demand it we make sure they get it.”

I am beyond excited about Ant-Man for two reasons: the director, and Marvel infusing new blood into Phase 2 of their franchise.

Wright directed Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and even though that was far from a perfect movie, it was very inventive with its humor and visual style. Plus, four of the next six movies Marvel will release are sequels (Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Avengers 2), so Ant-Man should at least bring something fresh to the Marvel universe.

How about you? Are you looking forward to Ant-Man?
