Aquaman May Not Be The Only DC Movie Released In 2018 After All

Earlier tonight, we brought you the news that James Wan's Aquaman had once again had its release date pushed back, this time from October 5th to December 21st, 2018. Though not a huge change by any means, the announcement did highlight the fact that now that production on The Batman has been delayed, the studio only has one DC-based project releasing next year, or so it seemed.

Variety reporter Justin Kroll followed up the Aquaman story with a very interesting update. According to him, WB is actually planning to get another DC flick into production this year with a view to a 2018 release. Apparently, The Flash, Green Lantern Corps, Gotham City Sirens, Suicide Squad 2, and Dark Universe/Justice League Dark are all possibilities for the fast-track treatment – however, if the scripts for the various project aren’t ready, the studio will be content to focus solely on Aquaman.

One might assume The Flash would be furthest into pre-production, but after burning through several filmmakers, that movie once again finds itself without a director. Lantern, Sirens and the Suicide Squad sequel, meanwhile, have all recently been assigned writers, but we found out last August that Doug Liman had boarded Dark Universe to direct, so perhaps that’s the most likely candidate? At this point, it’s hard to say, but either way, it’s nice to know that we may get two DC movies next year instead of just the one.

We’ll probably get some more details on this situation pretty soon, but in the meantime, let us know which of the five movies listed above you’d most like to see join Aquaman for a 2018 release.
