Arnold Schwarzenegger Joins Zombie Film Maggie

Variety is reporting that Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed on to an upcoming Zombie flick titled Maggie. The Black Listed drama revolves around a teenage girl from Middle America who becomes infected by a zombie. The kicker is, it takes her a full six months to turn into one of the undead and the story focuses on the affect that this has on her family. Arnie is set to play the girl's father and while Chloe Moretz was once attached to the lead role, she has now departed due to scheduling issues.

Arnie is set to play the girl’s father and while Chloe Moretz was once attached to the lead role, she has now departed due to scheduling issues. Commercial director Henry Hobson is currently in the director’s seat, ready to make his feature film debut.

While I do think that the plot sounds cool, and offers a unique spin on the Zombie genre, I don’t have much faith in this project. Hobson doesn’t have any experience as a feature film director and Schwarzenegger isn’t exactly a pro at pulling off drama. Known more for action-heavy roles, it will be interesting to see if he can perform well in a film that doesn’t have him kicking ass and taking names.

It’s too bad Moretz couldn’t stay on board, as that would have bode well for Maggie. Still, like I said above, the plot itself seems like something that could provide a fresh take on the genre and that alone may be enough to get people into theatres. Plus, Arnie is still a big draw and if they could get some decent talent to support him, who knows? Maybe Maggie will turn out to be alright?

What do you think? Are you happy to see Arnold Schwarzenegger starring in Maggie? Do you think the film sounds good
