Hot off the news that Paramount will be distributing Terminator 5, now we’re hearing from star Arnold Schwarzenegger that the film may be shooting as soon as January 2014. He also confirmed that he’ll be reprising his role as the titular robot.

Check out what the actor told Arnold Fans, via Coming Soon, below:

I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star AS the Terminator, which we start shooting in January and I’m also going to do King Conan – to play that role and also to do another Twins movie. So I feel very proud of that. I feel very happy and I’m looking forward to doing those films.

Sounds good, right? Everything seems to be moving along smoothly except for the fact that the film is still without a director. That being said, I’m sure there are people lining up outside the door to take a shot at this beloved franchise.

Also, it’s important to remember that Arnie’s return to the big screen back in January, The Last Stand, wasn’t that well received. Personally, I enjoyed it but critics didn’t love it and neither did the general public. This, of course, begs the question: how eager are people for more Schwarzenegger?

I think with Terminator 5, it will be the franchise name that draws people in, more than its star. Sure, Arnold is still great and all but he’s nothing like he was back in the 80s and admittedly, he is a bit washed up. The novelty of seeing him on screen again in The Last Stand only lasted so long and the reason I enjoyed the film was due to more than just his presence.

Either way, it should be interesting to see not only when Terminator 5 gets off the ground but also if people still care to see it. What do you think?
