With casting in full swing for the Fifty Shades of Grey film, rumours are starting to swirl around Hollywood concerning who will play the two main characters, Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Last week we heard Emma Watson’s name being tossed around in regards to the female lead (a rumour which was quickly shot down by the actress) and today, we’re hearing that Stephen Amell, the star of CW’s Arrow, may be in the running for the male lead.

In a recent video post to Facebook, Amell told fans that he had a meeting about the film. Check out what he had to say below:

“I get questions about Christian Grey all the time. That project is a long way off. I know this, because I had a meeting about it. It’s a long way off though. I mean, not that long, but not close. I wouldn’t call it long, but I wouldn’t call it close.”

Amell seems like a good choice for the role but of course, the above statement is in no way confirmation that he’s going to end up in the film. We say he’s a good choice though because he’s younger and his fame isn’t that valuable just yet. It’s a risky role and for an older, more well established actor, taking on the part would be a very risky career choice, which is why we couldn’t see anyone too famous going for the part. Then again, who knows? Some actors like to be bold.

Though I don’t watch it on a regular basis, from what I’ve seen of Arrow, I think Stephen Amell is a petty good actor, he has the looks for the part of Christian Grey too. Again though, for now this is just a rumour but one interesting thing to note is something that Amell said last year when asked about the film.

Check it out below:

I mean if you think about it, it would be four movies, the last part being two parts. I don’t even own a house yet. So I don’t think that I’d be turning that down any time soon.”

The giveaway in the above quote is that he knows that the last book will be filmed in two parts, something that isn’t common knowledge, which leads us to believe that he’s definitely in talks for the role.

What do you think of this news? Is Stephen Amell the man that you want to see lead the Fifty Shades of Grey film? Let us know in the comments below.
