Astrid Berges-Frisbey Cast As Guinevere In Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur

Deadline reports that Warner Bros. and director Guy Ritchie are making headway on their Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur flick, as today it was announced that they've chosen their Guinevere to stand valiant beside King Arthur - French actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey. Early talks had Elizabeth Olsen's name thrown into the mix, so does this mean that Berges-Frisbey has nabbed the lead? Or will Olsen be shifted into another role?

Deadline reports that Warner Bros. and director Guy Ritchie are making headway on their Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur flick, as today it was announced that they’ve chosen their Guinevere to stand valiant beside King Arthur – French actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey. Early talks had Elizabeth Olsen’s name thrown into the mix, so does this mean that Berges-Frisbey has nabbed the lead? Or will Olsen be shifted into another role?

The French actress-model made a name for herself in the US with a part in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides as the mermaid Syrena. In fact, her determination to make the transition from Europe to the States was such that she even learnt English for the role. A wise move indeed, as she went on to take her second US role in Mike Cahill’s I, Origins earlier this year.

The news comes nearly a month after it was announced that Sons Of Anarchy‘s Charlie Hunnam was being courted for the titular role. What’s interesting to note in the report is that Hunnam’s involvement is apparently a dead cert. It’s not out of the ordinary for signings to occur after initial interest – but now we know with certainty that the strapping biker will be taking the lead.

Written by Joby Harold, this new reboot of the King Arthur legend will reportedly stretch to six installments – meaning Berges-Frisbey could be set to get catapulted into the starry stratosphere.

Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur starts shooting February 2015, with a release set for July 22nd 2016.
