Paul Bettany Becomes Vision In Latest BTS Pic For Avengers 4

Curious about Paul Bettany's transformation into Vision? Wonder no more, for the actor has shared a new behind-the-scenes pic from Avengers 4.

As far as extensive make-up procedures are concerned, Paul Bettany’s transformation into Vision is right up there with Josh Brolin (Deadpool 2‘s Cable) and Zoe Saldana (Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Gamora) as one of the most intricate and time-consuming in all the land.

First introduced via Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron – you know, assuming you’re not counting Bettany’s voice performance as Tony Stark’s A.I. assistant, JARVIS – Vision has grown into one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and was even dragged into last year’s Civil War. But now that the dust has settled from Joe and Anthony Russo’s wildly successful crossover, there’s a new threat on the horizon. His name? Thanos.

Following up on a string of Easter eggs and post-credits teasers, Josh Brolin’s Mad Titan will finally enter the fray via Infinity War, before that conflict comes to a head in the untitled Avengers 4. It’s slated for a release in May of 2019, and while eagle-eyed Marvel fans have already spotted promo material for Infinity War, coverage of the fourth Avengers movie has primarily been limited to blurry, unofficial set photos and speculation.

That all changes today thanks to Paul Bettany’s latest Instagram post, which offers a peek at that extensive transformation from a regular old human into Vision, a sentient being imbued with the power of the Mind Stone.

Pretty cool, no? It’s unclear if this is a selfie or merely a close-up shot of Paul Bettany in the make-up chair, but it’s a welcome peek behind the curtain nonetheless. Granted, it’s not the best Avengers 4 set snap; that title belongs to the one of Vision catching up on some paperwork. Who knew a being of such power and wisdom was still committed to routine chores?

Following the release of Infinity War in 2018, Marvel will deliver the conclusive and so-far untitled Avengers 4 on May 3rd, 2019.
