While the Fox-Disney merger is likely still several months away from being finalized, the theories of how Marvel Studios could bring such popular properties as the X-Men and Fantastic Four into the MCU are already coming in thick and fast, and many of them have understandably revolved their ideas around the universe-changing events predicted to unfold in next year’s Avengers 4.
This latest Reddit theory from user PhobetorWorse is no exception, which bases its ideas on the suggestion that the upcoming release will see a ‘reverse snap’ of sorts. This grand reshaping of reality would not only re-materialize the disintegrated half of the universe’s population but also bring the various Earthlings scattered across the MCU back to their home planet. According to this post, the team that would eventually be known as the Fantastic Four were busy exploring the Negative Zone at the time of the event, and the phenomenon of being ripped through this antimatter universe and back to Earth is what grants them their phenomenal abilities.
The post also offers a more elaborate breakdown of how the X-Men could enter the picture. As well as putting forth the familiar prediction that the reverse snap could help awaken the mutant genes of people the world over, PhobetorWorse ties this event in further with pre-established MCU history by suggesting that these genes first originated in mid-20th century weapons testing orchestrated by S.H.I.E.L.D.
These are just a few of the ideas taken from a lengthier post, which also suggests that Captain Marvel will be the one to initiate the reverse snap, since she may be the only hero capable of harnessing the power of the Infinity Stones. Overall, it’s a nice piece of speculation that perhaps jumps the gun in bringing some of these Fox properties into the MCU so soon, but offers a worthy approach to what may inevitably be a somewhat difficult transition.
In any case, you can expect to see some big changes for the Marvel universe when Avengers 4 comes out on May 3rd, 2019.
