Has there ever been a film that’s as eagerly awaited as Avengers 4? From someone who’s traditionally “DC ’till I Die,” the MCU have taken a bunch of B-List heroes (and Spider-Man) and completely converted fans to their cause. So much so, that even the speculation over the name of the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War sequel has people, yours truly included, salivating at the prospect.
Sadly, we might be getting all heated up over nothing in regards to the recent developments that led us to believe that Avengers: End Game will be the official title of the pic. Cinematographer Trent Opaloch updated his CV to include a project by that name and it sent the internet into a tizzy yesterday. Lending weight to the whole thing was that “end game” were Doctor Strange’s last words, just before he turned into Disney Dust.
But then along comes co-director Joe Russo, who flat out denied to Uproxx a while back that the film’s title would originate from any dialogue in the preceding movie. Is he being truthful, though? Or is he trying to throw fans off of the scent? It’s hard to say, but in any case, Opaloch soon changed the credit on his resume back to simply read Avengers 4.
Again, whether that’s Disney deliberately being devious and trying to cover their tracks, or Opaloch’s just got a great sense of humor as well as a great eye, who knows? Certainly not us, and we won’t for some time, as Kevin Feige’s already said that the title won’t be revealed until the end of the year.
Still, that certainly won’t stop folks from speculating and with any luck, the true moniker of Avengers 4 might just leak out ahead of schedule. Until then, though, tell us, what do you think the film will end up being called? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below.
