Deadline reports that after one day in cinemas, the Avengers: Infinity War sequel’s box office total sits at $169 million. This figure can mostly be attributed to the movie’s record-breaking first day in China, where the flick managed to take in $107.5 million. The next best Wednesday launch was in Korea, where Endgame broke the all-time record for best non-holiday opening day with its $8.4 million haul.

In all markets, Endgame is tracking ahead of Infinity War – and, in some cases, by a pretty wide margin. In France, for example, Endgame outperformed last year’s release by 64%. Over in Germany, meanwhile, the film was a whopping 95% ahead, but the biggest improvement was in Hong Kong, where Endgame was up 98% on Infinity War.

Thanks to these increases, the feature now holds the biggest industry single-day record in China, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia and (in terms of admissions) Korea. What’s more, the movie is currently nearing the end of another triumphant day in China, where Endgame’s cumulative total now sits at an estimated $153 million.

Though we still have another day to wait before the film’s North America release, it’s safe to assume that the feature’s domestic performance will continue this trend of success. Recently, some analysts have gone as far as to speculate that Endgame has a chance of hitting $300 million in its first three days, and at the very least, we can expect it to beat the all-time opening weekend record of $257 million held by Infinity War.

All in all, it’s shaping up to be a very good week for Marvel Studios, but you can judge for yourself if the film is worth all hype when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
