Endgame Featured A Callback To The First Avengers Movie That We All Missed

Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were filled to the brim with epic callbacks to the previous 20 films and decades of comic books. It turns out there was one huge scene in the latter though that echoed 2012's The Avengers that's gone unnoticed. Until now, that is. And considering the scene's length, it's quite a shock.

A fan with the eyes of an eagle and memory of an elephant realized that part of the fight scene between Captain America and Thanos looked mighty familiar. It was immediately after Cap grabbed Thor’s hammer, and in case you missed it, you can check it out for yourself below:

Basically, an easter egg the length of an entire battle scene has escaped the eyes of legions of Marvel fans. That includes the guy who watched the move in theaters over 200 times. Pretty impressive, eh?

Of course, this scene in Endgame followed a moment that included one of the many comic book callbacks that made fans jump out of their seats. You surely remember it. Thanos was on the verge of taking Thor out the same way the latter almost took out the former in Infinity War, with a Stormbreaker through the chest. Cap suddenly becomes worthy though, or shows he was worthy all along, and proceeds to kick some Mad Titan ass with Mjolnir. It was just one of several scenes taken straight from the comics and had us all standing up and cheering.

Going back to this callback we missed, though, and with Avengers: Endgame now out on Digital HD and coming to DVD and Blu-ray later this month, you can bet we’ll see many more surfacing over the next little while, so stay tuned.
