No matter how you felt about the finale though – or even if you still haven’t made up your mind on it – may we direct your attention to Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, who’s now weighed in with his own thoughts on the episode and the season as a whole, stating that Avengers: Endgame presented a huge problem for HBO.

“I have a theory that I’ve espoused for the past 7 weeks, and it’s that #Avengers:Endgame near perfect sticking of their landing in regards to their finale presented a huge problem for #GOT final season,” Liefeld tweeted. “I won’t get into it now, but I believe it now more than ever.”

Indeed, the comic book writer makes a good point here. Endgame was such a perfect finale to the beloved franchise that it set the bar impossibly high for every other property to follow. And while the underwhelming conclusion to Thrones can’t be blamed entirely on that, it certainly only made things harder for HBO given that the Avengers movie released only about a month before the network brought their hit fantasy series to a close.

Expectations were through the roof for the GoT finale after fans saw what Marvel did with Avengers: Endgame and try as they might, HBO was never going to be able to match what we got with the Russo brothers’ film. That was simply in a class of its own and has, as we said above, now set a new bar for what a series/franchise finale should be.

Tell us, though, what do you make of all this? Are you pleased with how Game of Thrones wrapped up? Or are you left feeling underwhelmed by what we saw? Take to the comments section and share your thoughts.
