Avengers: Endgame Director Says Captain Marvel’s More Powerful Than Thor

When Captain Marvel was finally introduced into the MCU this year, her extreme power-levels were much discussed by fans and the folks who work on the movies themselves. When Captain Marvel was finally introduced into the MCU this year, her extreme power-levels were much discussed by fans and the folks who work on the movies themselves. Still, we’ve never been able to get a clear answer on whether Carol Danvers is the strongest hero in the franchise or not. Although, Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo certainly believes she could be more powerful than the Avengers’ biggest hitter, Thor.

Endgame was released today on Digital HD and among the special features that come with the movie is a commentary track from the directors. One of the many revelations in the Russos’ fascinating chat occurs when the brothers discuss Brie Larson’s heroine’s first on-screen meeting with the Avengers in the movie.

Joe began by saying that it’s exciting to insert such a tough new character into the mix, explaining:

“It’s interesting seeing the Avengers with Captain Marvel. I think that she dimensionalizes them in a really great way. Just from a pure power standpoint and what her abilities are. If you’re talking about a collection of heroes, and you’re gonna go face Thanos who we believe still has the gauntlet.”

He then dropped the bombshell that he thinks Carol might even have the upper hand on the God of Thunder, saying:

“She is as powerful, if not more powerful than Thor, and you suddenly have hope again. Because they all know what happened at the end of the last movie, he walked through them like they were paper.”

Honestly, it’s difficult to say who’s more powerful. Looking at how they come up against Thanos, in particular, both Danvers and Thor show some serious strength in their battles with the Mad Titan. Thor comes very close to beating the villain in Avengers: Infinity War while Captain Marvel clearly gives Thanos a scare when she single-handedly destroys his ship in Avengers: Endgame. Larson’s also claimed that her character is worthy enough to lift Mjolnir, too.

We might have to wait for future movies for further confirmation on who’s the more powerful hero, but in the meantime, tell us, who do you think’s stronger: Captain Marvel or Thor? Join the debate in the comments section down below.
