Avengers: Endgame Director Says Wolverine Probably Won’t Be In The MCU For A While

Now that Avengers: Endgame has had its time in the sun and brought more than 10 years of storylines in the MCU to a close, what comes next? Well, with the ink's finally drying on the Disney/Fox merger, the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four will soon be back at Marvel Studios, and what better way to move forward than to bring us new takes on fan favorites like Wolverine and the rest of the mutants?

Obviously, that’s something that Kevin Feige and his team have planned, but when, exactly, we’ll see the X-Men in the MCU remains unclear. According to Endgame co-director Joe Russo, though, it could be some time. Speaking about which properties he’d like to tackle for Marvel next, the filmmaker expressed his love for Wolvie, before saying that the iconic hero needs “to be set aside for a little while” before he returns to our screens.

Truth be told, he’s absolutely right. It’s going to take fans a bit longer to adjust to the fact that Hugh Jackman is no longer Wolverine and given that Logan only released in 2017, the character definitely needs some more time on the sideline before he’s brought back into the fold.

That being said, we imagine it won’t be too long before Marvel starts prepping their new take on Wolverine. After all, with heavy hitters like Iron Man and Captain America now gone from the MCU, the studio will need a few A-listers to help carry the franchise forward, and not many heroes are as big of a box office draw as the clawed mutant is.

But tell us, when the time comes, who would you like to see play the next Wolverine? As always, make yourself heard in the usual place down below.
