Since the Avengers: Infinity War sequel is the twenty-second entry in the superhero saga, the marathon started twenty-two days prior to the release. From the look of things, the Russo Brothers are taking the fans through the franchise in chronological order, meaning that the countdown began with World War II actioner Captain America: The First Avenger.

After that came the ‘90s-based Captain Marvel, which fans will presumably need to buy another theater ticket to revisit. And since then, the Russos have recommended Iron Man and Iron Man 2. As the pair work their way along the MCU timeline, it’ll be interesting to see what order they go with, perhaps settling a few fan debates in the process.

Of course, fans are free to brush up on their Marvel history however they see fit. For example, there’s certainly a case to be made for watching the movies in release order, rather than chronologically, since each film is intended to build on what we know from previous entries. Would, for instance, Captain Marvel make as much sense to someone who’s never seen Guardians of the Galaxy or the Avengers movies?

What’s more, not everyone is going to have the time and the resources, to (re-)watch all twenty-one Marvel movies in the lead-up to this month’s release, in which case, the Russos have recommend Infinity War and Captain America: Civil War as the two to check out beforehand. But regardless of how you choose to prep yourself, Avengers: Endgame will be bringing all this franchise history to its point of culmination when the film hits theaters on April 26th.
