Yes, Endgame finally gives the franchise its first TV-to-movie crossover. We’ve had a few characters crossover from the films to the TV shows – think Nick Fury in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – in the past, but never the other way around. So, who is this groundbreaking character? No, it’s not Daredevil or Luke Cage. It’s James D’Arcy’s Edwin Jarvis, as seen in ABC’s Agent Carter!

When Iron Man and Captain America travel back to S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ to find the Space Stone, Tony runs into his father Howard Stark and has a heart-to-heart with him. After saying goodbye to his dad with a hug, the oblivious Howard asks his driver if he knows this strange man. “You know lots of people,” comes the droll reply of the British butler.

Jarvis, whom Tony’s original A.I. was named after, was a main character on Agent Carter‘s two season run. Initially loaned to Peggy Carter by Howard for assistance in finding his stolen tech, Peggy and Jarvis became firm friends. They weren’t reunited in Endgame though, even though Peggy was depicted on the same site during this period as Steve secretly views his lost love through a window.

For those fans who were left bereft when Agent Carter was cancelled back in 2016, Jarvis’ cameo in Avengers: Endgame was a welcome tip of the hat to one of the most underrated and overlooked corners of the MCU. But for those who don’t keep up on the television corner of the franchise, well, we wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t catch this quick appearance by D’Arcy.
