Avengers: Endgame LEGO Leak Teases The Return Of An Old Enemy

Leaked set photos have long made it evident that Avengers: Endgame will see a return to the Battle of New York from 2012’s The Avengers, be it through flashback, B.A.R.F. technology, or as the fans are increasingly inclined to believe these days, time travel. It therefore only figures that the extra-terrestrial Chitauri will be making a comeback, and if this new leak is anything to go by, then this vicious species will be prominent enough in the film to get their own LEGO figures.

The image comes to us courtesy of Instagram user Mariopower_endgame, who also unveiled an unverified LEGO figure of Captain America in his new white suit earlier this week. And if yet another LEGO leak from a couple of weeks ago is to be trusted, the Chitauri could be one of at least two familiar goon types to return in the upcoming film, with the Outriders from Avengers: Infinity War also reported to be coming back.

So far, we’ve yet to find out what the significance of Endgame’s New York scenes will be, though the most prominent theory is that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are traveling back in time to somehow prevent the Decimation that wiped out half of all life from the universe.

As for how this journey into the past might happen, we’ve been getting a fair few hints here and there, from the line about ‘time vortexes’ in Ant-Man and the Wasp, to Samuel L. Jackson’s recently published statement to Entertainment Weekly that Captain Marvel is “one of the few people in the Marvel universe that can time travel.” No doubt the fans will continue to spin their theories, but all will be revealed when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
