Avengers: Endgame Outsells Infinity War 5:1 In First Week On Fandango

When tickets for Avengers: Endgame went on sale last Tuesday, you may recall that the upcoming Marvel flick had an insanely strong first day. On ticketing site Fandango, for instance, the Avengers: Infinity War sequel managed to beat the 24-hour pre-sales record held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens in a mere six hours. And according to the site’s latest update, the film proved similarly successful for the rest of the week.

Earlier today, Fandango announced that Endgame managed to outsell Infinity War at a ratio of 5:1 in its first week. Shortly afterwards, managing editor Erik Davis backed up this claim, while adding that the feature has also beaten The Force Awakens’ record for best first week pre-sales.

No doubt these latest announcements will be good for Endgame’s box office projections, not that they need any further boosting though. So far, the more conservative forecasts have the film tracking for an opening weekend in the range of $200-250 million, which would fall a little short of Infinity War’s record-breaking $257.6 million domestic debut. However, a report last week from Deadline argued that Endgame has “a good shot” at passing $260 million in its first three days, and may even near the $300 million mark.

These are some staggeringly high estimates, but the pic’s pre-sales make them all too believable. A new report from CNBC even claims that Endgame managed to sell nearly twice as many tickets in its first week as Aquaman, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Infinity War and Captain Marvel combined. We can therefore expect future projections to be similarly generous, before Avengers: Endgame tries to live up to all this hype when it comes out on April 26th.
