Say what you will about Hawkeye, but ever since we last saw him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – which was in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, for those keeping track – things haven’t exactly been going well for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, which implies that the guy with the bow and arrow may actually be more crucial to the team than many of us would think. Fortunately, then, Clint Barton’s set to make a return in Avengers: Endgame, and when he does, he’ll be sporting a whole new look.
Indeed, the film’s first trailer confirmed the popular rumor that Jeremy Renner will be suiting up in the Ronin persona, and while the teaser offered only a brief and somewhat dimly lit glimpse of this new guise, a new toy has revealed the costume in full. Not only that, but it also gives us a look at the weapon the hero will be wielding, and though this isn’t quite as good as a proper photo taken straight from Endgame, it still offers up a pretty solid idea of how Renner will appear on screen.
Cool, eh? Of course, what remains to be seen is why exactly Mr. Barton was in the mood for a change in image, though by far the most popular theory is that he’s embraced his dark side due to his family perishing in the universe-wide Decimation that concluded Avengers: Infinity War. That remains unconfirmed for now, but until we get some official answers, it’s what we’re sticking with.
In any case, with many predicting that another trailer could drop alongside Captain Marvel next month, we may get a proper look at Ronin in the flesh soon. And if not, well, then Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019, which really isn’t too far away now. And how exciting is that?
