In case it wasn’t clear enough already, the latest Avengers: Endgame trailer offers further confirmation that Tony Stark will indeed make it back to Earth. But to get a little more ambitious with the speculation, a new piece from ComicBook.com offers a suggestion for when exactly Iron Man returns to his home planet.
As you may recall, in the Endgame TV spot that aired during the Super Bowl earlier this year, there was a shot of Natasha Romanoff, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner and James Rhodes standing outside the Avengers Compound at night. The four of them are looking up at the sky, as though something is coming down from above, and there’s a case to be made that what they’re witnessing is the arrival of Stark and possibly Nebula.
For one thing, the preview that dropped this morning shows Tony back at the HQ, indicating that he makes it to this location one way or another. What’s more, the aforementioned shot outside the Compound has already been the subject of a fair amount of speculation, since the curiously large gap between Bruce and Rhodey seems to suggest that a character may have been edited out. With that in mind, we look again to the latest trailer, which shows Pepper Potts and Tony together in what appears to be the same location, suggesting that she too might be with our heroes as they stare up at the sky.
Moreover, the fact that Iron Man returns to the Compound at all suggests that he’ll be coming back to Earth fairly early in the story. After all, the evidence has really been mounting that the film will see the destruction of the HQ during an attack from Thanos and his minions. Granted, this all just speculation for the time being, but we’ll find out if there’s any truth to the above theory when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
