Avengers: Infinity War Has Over 60 Characters, One Scene Will Feature 32 Of Them

Avengers: Infinity War is going to be one heck of a big movie. Not only will it feature Earth’s Mightiest Heroes – a rather large group in and of itself – but they’ll also be joined in their fight against big bad Thanos by a number of other characters. Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy and more will all be showing up here. And if that wasn’t enough for you, there’s also the supporting players that have been confirmed for the flick (Man-Ape, Wong, Okoye, etc.) In short, if you’re in the MCU and still have a pulse, you’ll be involved in Joe and Anthony Russo’s blockbuster in some capacity.

It’s a lot to handle, to be sure, and though the directors proved themselves capable of juggling numerous plates in Captain America: Civil War, this is a whole different beast and it’ll be interesting to see how they balance everything out. To date, we still don’t know exactly how many characters the film will feature, but from what we’ve been hearing, it’s going to be a lot. Originally, it was rumored that there would be about 40-50, but if Scarlett Johansson is to be believed, it might be much more than that.

Speaking with Stephen Colbert on the Late Show, the actress was asked what fans can expect from the superhero extravaganza, and while she remained tight-lipped, as expected, she did drop one rather large bombshell that’s now sent everyone into a frenzy. Why? Well, because she told Colbert that there’s over 60 characters in Avengers: Infinity War, with Johansson estimating the count to be about 61 or 62.

Pick your jaw up off the floor, dear reader, because there’s more. Colbert then asked the actress if there’d be one scene with everyone, to which she replied that there won’t be, but that there is a scene with about 32 different characters in it. Throw in the fact that to date, there’s only about 25 confirmed cast members for Avengers: Infinity War, and you can see why fans have already begun the speculation.

Obviously, the film won’t be giving a starring role to all these individuals and most of them may just show up for a few moments throughout, but still, 62 characters is a lot and we can’t even imagine how one scene will include 32 of them. Talk about a logistical nightmare. Not to mention what a difficult job the Russos have in regards to ensuring that the plot and action is clear and easy to follow throughout, which will be tremendously challenging with so many heroes, villains and supporting players involved.

Now, there’s every chance that Scarlett Johansson is exaggerating a bit, but even if there’s say only 50 characters, that’s still a ton and given that we only know about 25 of them, it’s got us wondering who else may be showing up in Avengers: Infinity War. With Comic-Con quickly approaching, we may finally get a confirmed cast list in the near future, but until we do, feel free to hit us up in the comments section and let us know who you think we might be seeing in the film when it crashes into theatres on May 4th, 2018.
