Avengers: Infinity War Is “Absolutely Mind-Blowing”

With Thor: Ragnarok quickly approaching, and looking to be one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s strongest efforts to date, might we add, it’s almost about time to start getting excited for the studio’s 2018 slate. And while projects like Ant-Man and the Wasp and Black Panther are certainly worth paying attention to, it’s undoubtedly Avengers: Infinity War that’s going to be hogging the lion’s share of the spotlight come next year.

Joe and Anthony Russo’s landmark event movie is currently on course for a release on May 4th, 2018, and it’ll herald the advent of the Mad Titan and his squadron of galactic accomplices. Yes, after much foreshadowing, we know Thanos to be the primary antagonist of the Russo Brothers’ ensemble piece, who wages an Infinity War to bring ‘balance’ back to the universe.

On board for the role of the mega villain is none other than Josh Brolin, and with the exception of industry legend Stan Lee, he has the unique privilege of holding roles across both Infinity War and Deadpool 2, which means that 2018 is shaping up to be a year to remember for the Oscar nominee. The former tentpole will involve stepping into the monstrous boots of Thanos – albeit via a motion capture performance – and in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor touched base on what his experience working on the blockbuster has been like so far.

Unfortunately, Brolin wouldn’t spill too much, but did reveal that he’s seen a bit of footage and was wildly impressed with it.

“I love doing Avengers, it’s maybe the most fun I’ve ever had. I just saw a little snippet of it, and it was amazing. The cutting-edge technology of what they’re doing — what I’ve seen is absolutely mind-blowing. When I saw it on screen, it was me, but also not like me. It’s really strange.”

Of course, it’s nothing new for an actor to hype up a project they’re currently working on, but we have no reason to doubt what the No Country For Old Men star is saying here. After all, the footage in that leaked Comic-Con trailer looked absolutely fantastic and from everything we’ve heard about what Marvel’s planning to do with the flick, it truly is shaping up to be an event movie like no other.

Packed to the rafters with scene-stealing chemistry and “intense surprises,” Avengers: Infinity War is now less than a year away and will launch into theaters on May 4th, 2018. The fourth, so-far untitled Avengers film will then release in May of 2019, by which point viewers will be acquainted with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and her ’90s-set origin story. March 8th, 2019 is the date for your diaries for that one.
