Thanos Or Cable? Josh Brolin Reveals His Comic Book Villain Of Choice

Asked to choose between Thanos and Cable, Avengers: Infinity War star Josh Brolin sided with the Mad Titan during a recent interview with Total Film.

Thanos or Nathan Summers?

If there’s one person who knows each comic book mega-villain inside out, it’s Josh Brolin, who had the good fortune of landing prominent roles in both Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2. In fact, his commitment to the latter meant he wasn’t able to spend much time on the Infinity War set as he would’ve liked, leaving Joe and Anthony Russo with little choice but to call upon the help of a stand-in – along with some pretty fancy CGI wizardry – so that production was largely unaffected by Brolin’s busy schedule.

Currently out promoting his one-two punch of comic book villainy, Josh Brolin was asked by Total Film (h/t CBM) if he had a personal preference between Thanos and Cable, to which he replied:

Look, I really like doing Cable, and it’s practical. But I think if I was to have a preference, it’d be Thanos, just because my expectation was pretty low, given that I just thought I was a prop. And it was quite the opposite, having seen enough of the movie and realised how cutting edge this technical process is, y’know? I was watching me. I was watching every twitch, every blink. I was watching my eyes. My actions. I was living through my intentions.

Brolin continued:

At the beginning, before I said yes, I called Mark Ruffalo and I said, ‘What do you think of this?’ He was like, ‘It’s going to be really uncomfortable in the beginning, and then you see the movie, and you’ll just be absolutely blown away by the stuff you were doing.’ And that was then. They made huge leaps and bounds in mo-cap territory since then. There’s nothing not authentic about it.

Thankfully, it won’t be too much longer before fans get to see the fruits of Brolin’s labor – Infinity War graces theaters on April 27th (eek!), before Deadpool 2 sends the Merc off on an adventure he’ll never forget three weeks later. And it seems Fox has big plans for Josh Brolin’s one-armed time traveler.
