That being said, directors Joe and Anthony Russo have seemingly dropped a small hint today, which at least allows us to rule out a few roles that people had pegged him for. While they wouldn’t say very much, the brothers told Irish outlet Joe.ie that when fans see Peter Dinklage in Infinity War, they’ll recognize him. And though that may seem pretty insignificant as far as clues go, it does shed a bit of light on the mystery.

For starters, it confirms that Dinklage won’t just be lending his voice to a CGI character, which was speculated. Not only that, but it also tells us that the actor won’t be hidden under tons of prosthetics or make-up, which narrows things down. In fact, many believe he could be playing Pip the Troll, which is certainly still a possibility as it’s a role he’d be recognizable in. At least, somewhat.

Whoever it is he shows up as, we can’t imagine it being a big part. With so much to juggle as is, there’s no way Avengers: Infinity War has a lot of room for new characters, even if they’re being brought to life by big name actors. If anything, Dinklage’s role will be more of an introduction for whoever it is he’s portraying, before he possibly takes more of the spotlight in the currently untitled sequel.

That’s purely speculation on our part, of course, but it seems like the most probable scenario and with only a few weeks to go now before Joe and Anthony Russo finally deliver Avengers: Infinity War to theaters, we should have some answers sooner rather than later.
