Avengers: Infinity War To Ship Hawkeye Off “On His Own Journey”

Clint Barton (AKA Hawkeye) will be whisked off on his own personal journey when Avengers: Infinity War lights up theaters late next month.

Perhaps it’s the mooted transition to Ronin, or the fact that he’s one of the most woefully underused characters in the entire MCU, but Clint Barton (AKA the sharp-shooting Hawkeye) has become something of a cult hero as we approach Avengers: Infinity War.

He’s been relegated to the sidelines ever since the credits rolled on Captain America: Civil War, but thanks to the back-to-back release of Avengers 3 and 4 – two films that are seemingly more different than we’ve been led to believe – Hawkeye looks set to make up for lost time.

And as part of their exhaustive interview with Collider, Infinity War‘s directors Joe and Anthony Russo have offered up some fresh intel on the blockbuster threequel, and how it’s about to ship Hawkeye off “on his own journey.”

Coming out of Civil War, he’s in the same position that Cap and Falcon are at the end of that movie. And Ant-Man. And coming into this movie you know … the characters on Cap’s side coming out of the Civil War, some made certain decisions and others made other decisions that led to different paths in them dealing with oversight in this movie in a different way. So Hawkeye’s on his own journey in this movie.

Bouncing off his brother’s comments, Anthony Russo added:

Yeah. He has a unique reaction to the civil war situation that puts him in a special spot in this film.

So it seems Civil War really did a number on Clint Barton, who watched as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes fought amongst one another – for the record, he sided with Cap on the belief that the Sokovia Accords would only do more harm than good.

And though Avengers: Infinity War will seemingly find our heroes at their lowest – at their most vulnerable – Hawkeye will be pleased to hear that they’ll soon be fighting a common enemy: Thanos. Book your tickets, folks, because the biggest showdown in the history of Marvel Studios is about to go down. April 27th is the date for your diaries.
