Jeremy Renner Reveals Hawkeye’s Fate In Avengers: Infinity War

While promoting his role opposite Elizabeth Olsen in Wind River, Jeremy Renner all but confirmed that his Hawkeye will indeed appear in Avengers 4.

Perhaps more so than any other Marvel movie before it, the so-far untitled Avengers 4 is being kept firmly under lock and key ahead of its 2019 due date.

That’s not all that surprising, either, as the Powers That Be are likely wary of undercutting the release of next year’s Infinity War, which is shaping up to be an intense, must-see event movie teeming with surprises. Pitting Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and their newfound allies against the invading Thanos (Deadpool 2‘s Josh Brolin), Joe and Anthony Russo’s tentpole is on a scale of its own, but the real point of contention among fans is quite simple: who lives? And who dies?

That question came to the fore just yesterday, when Reddit uncovered an alleged document (a roll call, essentially) that claimed to reveal which heroes enlisted in Marvel’s Infinity War and lived to tell the tale. It’s a piece of intel that fans have since called into question, but while Jeremy Renner was out doing press for Wind River – incidentally, the one-time Bourne actor is joined by Elizabeth Olsen in the icy thriller – the MCU stalwart told Collider that filming on Avengers 4 is right around the corner.

Asked when he’ll begin shooting his scenes for the untitled sequel, Renner revealed that he’ll be back on the Avengers lot within the next two weeks, which tells us that, yes, Clint Barton will live to see another day once all is said and done on Infinity War. Last time Renner was involved in an Avengers movie, he arguably stole the show, so news that he’ll have a role to play in the fourth outing is music to our ears.

Given Spider-Man: Homecoming is still playing in theaters, we’re still a ways away from the launch of Avengers 4 in 2019. But don’t worry, there will be plenty of Marvel content to chew on between now and then, what with Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Captain Marvel all expected to release under Phase 3 of the MCU. And after that? Well, it seems as though Phase 4 will begin in earnest when Homecoming 2 swings into theaters in two years’ time.
