Has Avengers: Infinity War Carved Out A Role For Nick Fury?

If an IMDB listing is to be believed, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury may have a role to play in Avengers: Infinity War after all.

“There was an idea…to bring together a group of remarkable people. See if they could become something more, to fight the battles we never could.”

Nick Fury, former S.H.I.E.L.D. and certified badass, is a true veteran of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – hell, he was the one to assemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the first place, even giving them a gentle (albeit deceitful) nudge in the right direction during the finale of The Avengers.

But as we stand on the precipice of Infinity War, the question on everyone’s lips can be surmised as so: where’s Hawkeye? No, wait – that’s not right. Where’s Nick Fury?

Yes, it’s going on three years since Fury’s last Marvel appearance (Age of Ultron), which is a basically a lifetime in terms of the MCU. So what gives? Can we expect Samuel L. Jackson’s barking commander to emerge once more? Or has his character been shelved until Captain Marvel in 2019?

/Film has carried out a little research to discover that Infinity War‘s IMDb page lists two credits associated with SLJ – namely Jake Garber (his makeup artist) and Qualen Bradley (his stand in) – though we should stress that just like Wikipedia, anyone can edit IMDb’s content.

Our advice? Take this one with a pinch of salt, though it would be pretty disheartening to see an Avengers movie hit theaters sans Nick Fury.

Here’s what Samuel L. Jackson told /Film late last year about his presence in the MCU:

I wasn’t in the ‘superhero argument’ movie [Captain America: Civil War], I’m not in Avengers 3 and 4. They’re shooting them now, and they haven’t called me yet. They wouldn’t let me go to Black Panther-ville, so it’s kinda like how you gonna make a black Marvel movie and not let Nick Fury show up in it?!

Because even if Fury is left by the wayside during Avengers: Infinity War, there’s always Captain Marvel to look forward to, a standalone flick that plans to whisk viewers off to the 1990s on March 8th, 2019.
