She’s leader of the Dora Milaje and one of the finest warriors Wakanda has ever seen, but Avengers: Infinity War will present Danai Gurira’s Okoye with a unique challenge: becoming a citizen of the world.

The Walking Dead and Black Panther actress recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly to talk all things Marvel. And so, after touching on the meteoric success of Ryan Coogler’s spinoff – for the record, it’s all set to cross the $1 billion mark by Sunday – Gurira spoke briefly about Okoye’s arc going into Avengers: Infinity War.

Change is scary. But I think the learning curve is to become a citizen of the world versus a citizen of Wakanda.

Of course, Danai Gurira isn’t the only Wakandan native set to reprise her role for Joe and Anthony Russo’s mega-movie; elsewhere on the cast list, we have Shuri (Letitia Wright) and M’Baku (Winston Duke), whose Jabari Tribe will be charging into battle against the Black Order and their six-armed minions.

The Queen Mother Ramonda (Angela Bassett) is also expected to appear, as is Bucky Barnes, who spent the vast majority of Black Panther housed up in a cryogenic chamber. It’s all for a good cause, though, as Shuri was able to purge his mind of any echoes of HYRDA, thereby allowing Sebastian Stan’s anti-hero – one who now goes by the title ‘White Wolf’, as opposed to ‘Winter Soldier’ – to walk into Avengers: Infinity War with a relatively blank slate.

He’ll need it, too, as Marvel’s star-studded event movie features a roster of villains comprised of Thanos and his nefarious Black Order. Oh, and did we mention the army of Outriders? Suffice it to say, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are up against it…
