Let it be known that Thanos isn’t your typical Marvel movie villain.

Thanks to the interconnected nature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its 10-year legacy, the Mad Titan has grown into one of the most formidable screen villains in recent memory, and those familial ties to Gamora and Nebula – Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan, respectively – only add more dramatic weight to Avengers: Infinity War, a film many consider to be Thanos’ origin story.

But more on that later; the first port of call today involves an incredible fan poster that sees the Mad Titan wielding an Infinity Gauntlet fast approaching the height of its abilities. All six Stones are in place (yes, even the elusive Soul gem), and while Infinity War‘s trailers have shown Thanos with only two Infinity Stones – namely Space and Power – we’re inclined to believe that the Russo Brothers plan to wait until Avengers 4 before the purple giant is in possession of all six.

We’ve included the poster down below for your viewing pleasure. Meanwhile, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely believe the Mad Titan’s spacefaring quest will allow Infinity War to be remembered more as a Thanos origin story than an Avengers sequel.

One of the big challenges is how to make sure he’s not just a relentless machine collecting stones like he’s going shopping. So we want to give him a full weighted emotional story. You can kind of say this is Thanos’ origin story, so that he will get the weight of any of the previous heroes in terms of the decisions he has to make in order to get what he wants.

Expect Avengers: Infinity War to send the MCU and its impassioned fanbase into a tizzy on April 27th, by which point we should have a better understanding of how the Russo Brothers plan to set the stage for the so-far untitled Avengers 4, a sequel that is still, somehow, a complete and utter mystery.
