The Sorcerer Supreme may well be Marvel’s ace in the hole going into Avengers: Infinity War.

Having wrangled the Eye of Agamotto – and, by effect, the Time Stone – under control back in 2016, Stephen Strange knows a thing or two about the stones and their destructive capabilities. He has the Masters of the Mystic Arts to thank for that, as Infinity War‘s prelude comic has outlined a scene set in the world-famous Sanctum Sanctorum where Wong informs Strange about Agamotto and the current whereabouts of each cosmic ingot.

And so, after some brief exposition, Doctor Strange discovers that the Power Stone was cast astray on Morag (where it was later retrieved by a smooth-talking Star-Lord) along with Malekith’s mishandling of the Reality Stone in Thor: The Dark World. Still no mention of the Soul Stone, though common logic places the sixth and final gem in Wakanda, where much of Avengers: Infinity War appears to take place.

All of this leads us to the conclusion that, yes, Doctor Strange will be instrumental in Avengers: Infinity War, as his prior knowledge of the Infinity Stones will likely come in handy when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes begin to formulate a plan to defeat Thanos. The same can be said about the Guardians, too, given they were given a brief history lesson on the stones and their extraordinary origins by The Collector.

Here’s a rundown of that prelude comic in question:

As a Master of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Stephen Strange has witnessed many unusual things…but none so powerful and potentially Universe-threatening as the existence of the Infinity Stones! Don’t miss a detail of the galaxy-spanning story featuring Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Vision, Scarlet Witch and more, and make yourself an Infinity Stone expert before this summer’s blockbuster film!

The second part of Will Corona Pilgrim’s prelude comic is available from today, February 28th, lending viewers plenty of time to become acquainted with each of the six Infinity Stones – namely space, reality, time, power, mind, soul – ahead of the arrival of Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th.
