Ever since they went on sale this past weekend – March 16th, to be specific – Infinity War has completely obliterated AMC records. To put things into perspective, advanced sales for Joe and Anthony Russo’s Herculean event movie were 257.6 percent ahead of Black Panther during the same timeframe, and 715 percent ahead of Captain America: Civil War. Its initial sales were also 1106.5 percent more than Age of Ultron, the last Avengers movie to bring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes together on the big screen.

Yes, if ever there was proof that Avengers: Infinity War is in a league of its own when it comes to pre-release buzz and excitement, this is it. In light of the announcement, Adam Aron, CEO and president of AMC Theatres, released the following statement:

The incredible advance ticket sales success we’re seeing with Avengers: Infinity War is another example of consumers giving evidence that they will come out to movie theatres in huge numbers when Hollywood makes movies they want to see. Just like we saw with Black Panther, Jumanji, The Greatest Showman and so many others, movie fans are buying their tickets in advance, they’re buying in premium formats, they’re buying to reserve their seats, and they’re doing so in massive, record-breaking numbers.

That premium format Aron refers to is, of course, IMAX, which will undoubtedly see a big boon in ticket sales as viewers flock to see Avengers: Infinity War on the biggest screen possible. It’ll also extend the 10-year collaboration between Marvel and IMAX, which recently helped expand the horizons of Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther movie.

As for Infinity War‘s pre-sale record, AMC’s Elizabeth Frank, executive vice president of worldwide programming and chief content officer, added:

The success of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is a testament to the storytelling and franchise craftsmanship from Marvel and Disney, and like our AMC movie fans, we are excited to see what this next chapter holds, and for what could be another record-setting opening weekend.

Expect Avengers: Infinity War to make history on Aril 27th.
