Though he’s about to make the transition from Winter Soldier to White Wolf during the course of Avengers: Infinity War, Sebastian Stan admits that he’s “100 percent” on board for a possible spinoff movie featuring his haunted anti-hero, Bucky Barnes.

Speaking with Variety at last night’s red carpet event in Los Angeles, the MCU stalwart chatted candidly about his desire to pursue a standalone Winter Soldier movie once Infinity War and the so-far untitled Avengers 4 have come and gone.

Of course. I mean, the thing about these movies is that we’ve had a lot of them, but there’s always pieces you feel like you can still explore and go back over. Every time you play the character you learn something new and you want to go back and do it again, so of course. If it is to get into some of the past, for example, that we haven’t seen then I’d be down 100 percent.

Those comments arrive a mere 24 hours after it emerged that Marvel’s Black Widow solo movie may take the form of a pre-Iron Man 2 prequel featuring Bucky Barnes and a Natasha Romanoff still reeling from the collapse of the Soviet Union. So perhaps the Powers That Be over at Marvel Studios will kill two birds with one stone and allow Sebastian Stan to co-star alongside ScarJo’s world-renown agent? It certainly presents food for thought.

Via That Hashtag Show:

The film will find Natasha living in the United States 15 years after the fall of the Soviet Union! That timeline places the film firmly in the mid-2000s, meaning we’ll meet up with Nat prior to the events of Iron Man 2. That time frame opens up plenty of options, and while many fans seem to want a Black Widow/Hawkeye team up in Budapest, we’ve been told that early discussions about the film involved Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier.

Black Widow and Winter Soldier

Avengers: Infinity War will stage its grand debut on April 27th. And after that? Ant-Man and the Wasp, which looks to have a pretty big presence at the ongoing CinemaCon event in Las Vegas.

Black Widow, on the other hand, is said to be targeting a release in 2020 – with or without the Winter Soldier. More on this story as it comes in.
