Avengers: Infinity War Won’t Introduce Any New Characters

Avengers: Infinity War is going to be one heck of a big movie. Not only will it feature Earth’s Mightiest Heroes – a rather large group in and of itself – but they’ll also be joined in their fight against big bad Thanos by a number of other characters. Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy and more will all be showing up here. And if that wasn’t enough for you, there’s also the supporting players that have been confirmed for the flick (Man-Ape, Wong, Okoye, etc.) In short, if you’re in the MCU and still have a pulse, you’ll be involved in Joe and Anthony Russo’s blockbuster in some capacity.

It’s a lot to handle, to be sure, and though the directors proved themselves capable of juggling numerous plates in Captain America: Civil War, this is a whole different beast and it’ll be interesting to see how they balance everything out. To date, we still don’t know exactly how many characters the film will feature, but from what we’ve been hearing, it’s going to be a lot. With that in mind, you’d think that Marvel would use the superhero extravaganza as a chance to introduce us to some fresh blood, but apparently, that won’t be happening.

According to Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, there won’t be any new faces in the movie. On the one hand, that’s fairly surprising, as it’s been rumored for a very long time now that Captain Marvel would make her debut in Infinity War. It was all but confirmed, actually, but it seems like the studio may hold onto her until Avengers 4 now. If Boseman’s to be believed, that is.

On the other hand, the fact that Marvel won’t introduce us to anyone new actually isn’t all that surprising when you think about it. Like we mentioned above, Infinity War is already going to be a jam-packed affair. We doubt they’d even have room to bring in anyone we haven’t met before, as he/she would just be overshadowed and not be able to get a proper introduction. As such, the studio may want to wait a bit before they start throwing the fresh faces at us.

Then again, Boseman could just be toying with fans, as he obviously can’t reveal too much about what Marvel’s got planned. At this point, it’s hard to say what’s going on. Either way though, whether we get any new characters or not, this is shaping up to be an absolutely massive film and with more and more details spilling out about it, the excitement is definitely starting to mount.

Don’t expect the hype to slow down any time soon, either. With Comic-Con quickly approaching, we’ll no doubt hear even more about Avengers: Infinity War in the not too distant future, and though we wouldn’t expect to get a first trailer at the convention next month, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to imagine Marvel finally – finally! – confirming the full cast.

Fingers crossed, eh?
